What are future responsibilities of Bursa against UNESCO?

Being listed on UNESCO World Heritage List shows the outstanding universal value of the cultural area and that preservation of the area is for the benefit of all humankind.

Our biggest responsibility against UNESCO and international community is to keep preserving our World Heritage sites as have in the past, and keep ourselves under control about preservation issues at all times.

Countries with cultural assets on World Heritage List are obligated to make any and all studies, preservation & refunctioning activities, and all sorts of public works that develop and/or change the heritage sites available for international audition and inspection, and report any activity big enough to affect heritage sites to UNESCO World Centre.

Preservation status of the sites will be reported by Bursa Site Management using various methods, and these reports will be submitted to UNESCO World Centre. These methods include monitoring indicators reports, and “activity reports and study programs” assessment reports.

Support from all stakeholders during the preparation of said reports, prioritizing activities mentioned in Management Plan according to legislations, and sparing a budget for these activities are among our most important responsibilities under Monitoring Process.

To avoid getting listed on World Heritage in Danger, issues determined by monitoring indicators should be realized and reports about these should be submitted to UNESCO in time.
