On Friday 24 January 2025, as Bursa Metropolitan Municipality – UNESCO Bursa Site Management, we held a second meeting about our efforts to reduce the earthquake/disaster risk of our World Heritage Sites.
The meeting was attended by 2 experts from Japan working at JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency – Earthquake Risk Reduction and Prevention Planning Project), Birben Durmaçalış, Historical Cultural Heritage Branch Manager and Duygu Yılmaz, Earthquake and Soil Investigation Branch Manager. With the project, our historical buildings with high risk of damage in a possible earthquake will be identified. In addition to the development of new projects to reduce earthquake damages, the necessary measures to be taken in the short, medium and long term will also be determined.
