ABOUT US

The “Bursa Site Management,” affiliated with the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, was established in December 2011 as a unit within the relevant department of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and is currently in operation.

In accordance with legal regulations, the Bursa Site Management is composed of the following:

• Site Manager
• Site Management Working Team
• Advisory Board
• Coordination and Supervisory Board.

VISION OF THE BURSA SITE MANAGEMENT

The vision of the Bursa Site Management is to prepare, implement, and ensure the international recognition of a management plan that preserves and sustains the outstanding universal values related to the natural, physical, historical, economic, social, and administrative structures of the Hanlar Bölgesi (Khans Region,) Sultan Complexes, and Cumalıkızık Village, in accordance with international norms and with the participation of all stakeholders (representatives of institutions and organizations with authority and responsibility in the areas, civil society organizations, professional chambers, universities, rights holders, and users of the areas).

MISSION OF THE BURSA SITE MANAGEMENT

-To prepare the Bursa (Khans Region, Sultan Complexes and Cumalıkızık) Management Plan, to be formed with the participation of all stakeholders, for the preservation of Bursa Historic Areas (Khans Region, Sultan Complexes, and Cumalıkızık Village) in accordance with international norms, and to ensure their management through annual action plans.

-The Bursa Historic Areas Nomination File was submitted to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in September 2012, and Bursa’s inclusion into the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List in 2014 was ensured. Through such activities, the Bursa Site Management is dedicated to promoting Bursa in international platforms and increasing Bursa’s international recognition.

-To aim for the sustainable preservation of Bursa Historic Areas in accordance with the conditions of the World Heritage Convention.

-To promote Bursa’s historical and cultural heritage to the world and enhance the city’s potential in the field of tourism.
